The 37th edition of FDE – the Contemporary Dance Festival in Bergamo: “Today is the perfect day”

“Today is the perfect day” is not just a slogan. It’s an invitation to trust, to believe in the transformative power of cultural participation. It’s a gesture of openness: sometimes it means stepping away from the safest path to be surprised by the richness of artistic languages.

The 2025 edition of Festival Danza Estate is born from this belief: there are no “perfect” moments except for those we choose to live fully. With our bodies, our desires, our communities, we can generate beauty, reflection, and connection. Today is always the perfect day to take part and to be part of a shared experience.

The Festival once again opens itself to the city, to urban and natural landscapes, to theatres and unconventional spaces, offering everyone the chance to live their own “perfect day.” Taking part in dance, immersing oneself in movement, is not an escape, but a gesture of grounding.

In this edition of Festival Danza Estate, you’ll encounter national and international companies in the city’s main cultural venues, artists from different generations, live music, and many opportunities to participate in workshops and performances open to anyone willing to get involved.

2025 marks the beginning of a new three-year project featuring two partner companies with whom the Festival has chosen to share a stretch of its journey and deepen its dialogue with the territory: mk, the renowned and award-winning group led by Michele Di Stefano, and Cult of Magic, a young research collective active in performance, music, and contemporary dance.

Also debuting is Spazio MURA, a new special FDE project dedicated to enhancing the value of the Bergamo Walls, a UNESCO heritage site and symbol of the city’s deep connection to its history. The Walls will become a place of encounter and sharing, where dance becomes the language to connect people and celebrate the beauty of this extraordinary site.

Sometimes it’s good to go out and open up to the unexpected. Today is the perfect day to do it.
