This Must be the Space is the section of the Festival dedicated to choreographic proposals by artists under 35.  FDE has always supported emerging artistic productions by offering the opportunity to perform during one of the evenings of the Festival. In recent years, we have decided to extend this opportunity by establishing an open call to allow a growing number of artists to present their creations.

The three creations selected from the open call are:
• All you need is by EM+ | Emanuele Rosa and Maria Focaraccio
• Re Penelope by Cult of Magic | Samira Cogliandro
• Atto bianco by Roberta Racis

The three performances were selected by a jury composed of audience members from the Festival and students from the Liceo coreutico Bergamo. The selection process was supported by independent artistic curator  Lorenzo Conti.

This selection is enriched with GOOD VIBES ONLY (beta test), an early study by Francesca Santamaria, developed as part of C.I.M.D (Centro Internazionale di Movimento e Danza)’s Incubator of Future Choreographers* 2022/2024 project and chosen by the artistic directions of FDE, MILANoLTRE and Più che Danza to be supported and presented at the three festivals.

The jury of This Must be the Space 2024 consists of: Mirka Bordegari, Marcello Domenighini, Anna Induni, Giovanni Petralli, Daria Romanenko along with a delegation of students from the Liceo coreutico di Bergamo, Camilla Andreoni, Sofia Pagani, Alessia Assolari, May Ferrari and Chiara Alloni.
