Preview
A work of dance-theatre and live music that moves through the intimate territory of the maternal relationship, of memory, generativity and belonging.
The creation draws inspiration from the anthropological figure of the “figlio santo”, an informal practice widespread in Southern Italy between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, whereby a child was entrusted to and raised by another family. From this image comes a broader and more universal reflection: the human need to belong to a place, to a relationship, without being held back.
Figliasanta explores what generates and what is generated: not only children, but gestures, relationships, identities and imaginaries. Generativity is understood as a deeply human act: the ability to give shape to something that did not previously exist.
Bio
Ludovica M. Poerio is an Italian dancer and performer. She trained with MoDem / Zappalà Danza and through international experiences. Since 2017, she has collaborated with Abbondanza/Bertoni on several productions. She has worked with various Italian and European companies. Since 2024, she has been a performer for Aldes by Roberto Castello. Her research interweaves dance, theatre and dramaturgy.
Sergio Beercock is an Anglo-Sicilian performer: singer, musician, poet and theatre actor. Active across music and the stage, he creates and directs performances presented at festivals such as Santarcangelo and Romaeuropa. His works interweave voice, body and ritual. In 2024, he composed the soundtrack for the film Sicilian Gods.
