Panoramic Banana is a kaleidoscope of dances and images immersed in a hybrid soundscape. Choreographer Michele Di Stefano creates a vibrant performance that explores territories suspended between the euphoria of the unknown and the longing for a return to a wilder nature. A world-to-come takes shape, where disorder becomes the rule and the environment turns murky and throbbing.
Dance Circle is an initiative by the Dance Card network in collaboration with Stratagemmi – Prospettive Teatrali. It offers a cross-disciplinary space for reflection on dance, where choreographers engage with perspectives from fields such as philosophy, literature, and psychoanalysis.
IN PRINCIPIO NON C’ERA NESSUNO (IN THE BEGINNING, THERE WAS NO ONE)
a dialogue with Michele Di Stefano
and Giuliana Iannaccaro
moderated by Alessandro Iachino
Art is representation: narrative uses storytelling to express what we imagine, desire, and fear. The journey toward the “unkown land” rides on the wings of expectation, but what one finds upon arrival often depends on what one is looking for.
The talk In the Beginning, There Was No One focuses on colonial literatures and imaginaries. Held in conjunction with Panoramic Banana, it will feature a conversation between choreographer Michele Di Stefano and Giuliana Iannaccaro, Professor of Literatures in English-speaking Countries at the University of Milan. Moderated by Alessandro Iachino.
Bio
The mk group, led by Michele Di Stefano, has been engaged in choreography and performance since 2000, working across shared and cross-disciplinary projects. Di Stefano was awarded the Silver Lion for innovation in dance at the Venice Biennale (2014) and the UBU Prize in 2019 for Bermudas_forever. His creations explore ever-changing performative formats and devices, from rehearsal rooms to urban spaces.
