Research and experimentation for the contemporary international dance show many shows, international companies, collateral events and different artists involved:
Festival Danza Estate, the only contemporary dance show in the city of Bergamo, presents great names of the national and international landscape in a rich program of high quality proposals dedicated to the public of all ages.
The renowned Festival Danza Estate, at its 31# edition in 2019, is one of the main performing arts events in Bergamo and it is the only festival dedicated to contemporary dance in the City.
The event, scheduled between May and July and organized by 23/C ART COOP. SOC, includes thirteen unmissable performances of Italian and European Companies, in addition to numerous side events hosted in different locations in the city and in surrounding areas.
Bergamo Alta, the Upper Old Town, is the main setting of the event, with some prestigious and historical locations as the esteemed Teatro Sociale and the Historical Museum with its ancient medieval Saint Francesco Cloister.

The shows in the programme are many and varied, from great national first nights to emerging companies, beside some prominent names who will perform on important stages in the city and other local performance sites of undeniable heritage, architectural and artistic value.;.
And, as for Bergamo with its many resources, the section dance km0 aims to give space and opportunity to emerging companies in the city. Particular attention will be paid to the new generations with dance kids, which will accompany the youngest ones to discover dance and live performance, making them protagonists with many opportunities included in the programme of Summer Dance Festival.
Multidisciplinary projects include authors’ seminars, themed conversations, residences and co-productions.
All this with a constant interweaving of different forms of artistic expression and, specifically, the world of dance in continuous transformation together with theatre, opera, acrobatics, circus, video projections, live music and new technologies.
