With its 36^ edition, FDE closes the three-year project dedicated to the theme of the Landscape as a space that welcomes communities, as a place for connecting and sharing.
This last chapter, “Paesaggi Presenti”, delves into the various forms of interaction between performer and spectator, depicting the presence of two bodies that, in the performative act, transform into a collective means of listening, creating transient and unique landscapes.
How does the relationship with the audience continue to exist when the body of the performer is not present, but far away in time and space? What are the values brought by distance and absence? The special project of this edition, Landscape#3: Spaces and bodies between the real and virtual, tries to answer to these questions by exploring the possibilities of interaction offered by new technologies such as VR (Virtual Reality) and XR (Extended Reality), which in recent years have become research and experimentation instruments for choreographers and dancers.
Festival Danza Estate once again this year inhabits different spaces around the city, offering many occasions for discovery, beauty and reflection. In the programme you will find 13 performances by italian and international companies, with two worldwide premieres and four national premieres. To delve more into the work of the artists, the programme will be enriched with artists talks and various opportunities open to meet and take part that are open to everyone.

FDE Contemporary Dance Festival in Bergamo
FDE – Festival Danza Estate has been for more than thirty years one of the main live show events and the only festival dedicated to contemporary dance in Bergamo. Many venues in the city and surroundings for meeting internationally famous artists and Italian talent. An opportunity to live the energy of dance invading the city and province.
Every year Festival Danza Estate provides plenty of quality occasions to see and experience choreutic art at all levels.
The audiences are led on the discovery of contemporary dance through numerous fringe events: meetings, performances, film projections, training courses for dancers and aficionados.
Thanks to the collaboration with precious local cultural partners, each edition takes place in prestigious city settings such as the fantastic Teatro Sociale, the cloister of the Carmine Monastery and the former Daste thermoelectric power plant. The network reaches out to squares, theatres and public spaces throughout the province, thanks to the engagement and support of some towns on the outskirts of the city.
Festival Danza Estate contributes to cultural growth in the territory, bringing to completion the well-stocked supply of events, museums and activities already available in Bergamo, making the city more attractive to Italian and foreign tourists.
